How To Make Honey Bee Treats
Do you remember the story Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree? We all know how much The Pooh Bear loves honey. In this story Pooh ran out of honey and borrows a balloon from Christopher Robin. Pooh disguises himself as a rain cloud and uses the balloon to float up to a bee hive.
Pooh is soon surrounded by a group of angry bees. At one point in the story Pooh admits to Christopher Robin that these are the wrong type of bees. In honor of the little bees protecting their honey, Cindy shows you how to make honey bee treats. They’re great for an any time treat or part of the refreshments at your Winnie The Pooh Party.

Before you start making your treats, why not watch the trailer for the new Winnie The Pooh movie coming out July 15, 2011.

Honey Bee TreatsBy Cindy Littlefield
Ingredients:
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/3 cup softened butter
1/2 cup honey
1 1/4 cup crushed crisped rice cereal*
Wooden spoon
Small microwavable bowl
1/4 cup chocolate chips
Slivered almonds
*An easy way to crush the cereal is to seal it in a plastic bag and roll over it with a rolling pin.
Directions:
1. Combine the peanut butter, honey and crushed crisped rice cereal in a bowl and stir with a wooden spoon until well mixed.
2. Shape teaspoonfuls of the mixture into balls and chill them until firm.
3. Measure the chocolate chips into a microwavable bowl and heat them in the microwave for 15-second intervals, until they are melted (note: they won’t lose their shape). Stir the chocolate with a wooden spoon until smooth.
4. Drizzle chocolate stripes over the honey balls.
5. For bee wings, set two almond slivers on top of each honey ball, using a dab of chocolate to secure them and fanning them toward the sides just a bit. Makes about 2 dozen.
