How To Make Ducky Coasters

Today Cindy is going to show you how to make ducky coasters. These make fun craft projects for the kids at your birthday party. Or make a bunch yourself for table coasters and give them to the kids to take home after the party.

The ducky pattern is designed after the tavern’s sign in the Disney movie Tangled. It is perfect to use with your Just Duck Birthday theme party.

Snuggly Duckling Coasters By Cindy Littlefield

On their journey down to the kingdom, Flynn and Rapunzel stop in at a most unusual pub tucked way in the middle of the forest. In fact, it’s so tucked in, the roots of the tree it was built beside serve as bar stools. Fashioned after the tavern’s iconic sign, these whimsical drink coasters are great for serving up a little Snuggly Duckling atmosphere at snacktime.

You’ll need:

* Template for Snuggly Duckling Coasters
* Scissors
* Scrapbook paper (off-white or white, wood grain, and a background color or print to contrast with the wood grain)
* Colored markers (orange and black)
* Glue stick
* Self-adhesive laminate sheets (sold at office supply stores)

Instructions:

1. Print the template. For each coaster, use the pieces to cut a bottom layer from colored paper, a top layer from wood grain paper, and a duck from white or off-white paper.

2. Center the top layer atop the bottom layer and glue it in place.

3. Meanwhile, your child can use markers to color the duck’s bill orange, and add a small black nostril. When he’s done, glue on one of the eyes from the template.

4. Glue the completed duck atop the coaster.

5. Once you’ve made as many coasters as you like, waterproof them by sealing each one between pieces of a self-adhesive laminate sheet. Use your hands to firmly press down and smooth both the fronts and backs of the coasters to remove any air bubbles. Then trim the laminate about 1/8 inch from the edge of the paper all the way around each coaster.
