Children’s Birthday Party Pictures
Have you every been to a birthday party or had a party yourself and everyone forgot to take birthday party pictures? There is nothing worse than having a stack of film or extra memory cards for your digital camera and forgetting to take pictures.
It’s a good idea to ask the other parents to bring their camera to the birthday party and help you take pictures. Or you could purchase disposable cameras for the other parents and pass them out when them arrive.

This way you are sure to have some good photos of the party and a way to remember the occasion. Each person taking pictures will bring their own unique vision to the process. You won’t be able to capture all the special moments yourself. But, with the help of a few friends you’ll have a wonderful selection of pictures.
Before the guests arrive and the birthday party gets underway take some pictures. It will be fun to look at before the party, during the party and after the party pictures. Don’t forget to take a picture of the birthday boy or girl just before the party starts while they are all dressed up, looking nice.
For an interesting group of pictures take shots at all different angles and positions. Stand on a chair to get long, wide angle shots of the whole party. Then get lots of low, eye level shots of the children. Zoom in for some close shots of all the different party elements.

When taking your closeup shots focus on the details of the item – the top of the birthday cake and details of the table decorations. This type of picture will look good sprinkled among the party activities.
Candid shots usually turn out the best because they are not posed and look natural. The best pictures capture people and their expressions as they are. With several people taking pictures you will have plenty of natural and expressive birthday pictures.
But, you will want to take some posed shots as well such as: Group pictures of the all the children and individual pictures with their best friends. Pictures taken with various family members and the birthday boy or girl.
If you are having a theme party taking a picture of each child standing with Lightning McQueen or Minnie Mouse will make a nice keepsake for all the children.

Can’t you just see the big smiles on their faces while standing next to their favorite cartoon or story book character.
Of course, you want a picture of the birthday cake being brought in. And the birthday candles being blown out.

Shooting children can be a challenge because they are always moving around. One of the best ways to capture active children at a birthday party is take shots in continuous shooting. Most cameras have this feature and you can get some terrific pictures with continuous shooting mode.
One of the benefits of shooting in a digital format is you can take as many shots as you want and delete what you don’t want with no cost. So just keep shooting and do your editing later.
